Cholesterol and Lipids
Cholesterol Testing and Results : A test that requires a small blood sample and that can provide important medical information is a complete cholesterol test, also known as a lipid panel or lipid profile. This test can measure the levels of the different types of cholesterol and triglycerides in your body. The test results can help your healthcare provider better determine your risk for heart disease and other cardiovascular conditions. Refer to the graphic.
Everyone age 20 and older should have their cholesterol and lipids checked every 5 years. And more often if you have risk factors, such as family history of high cholesterol.
The good news is you can have a significant and positive impact on your cholesterol and triglyceride levels by modifying your diet. Remember to team up with a Naturopath that can assist you.
