The Power of our Thoughts
Our human body is a miraculous and mysterious form. It’s estimated that there are well over two billion daily functions that the body performs without us ever consciously asking it to do so.
It’s also estimated that the average human being processes at a conscious level over 20,000 thoughts a day which is less than a fraction of 1% of the total functions of any human being. With so much going on within us that we don’t need to be actively coordinating, one would think that the rest should be easy.
With a bit of cooperation from us, we could feel so much more magnificent than we currently do. It has to do with the attitude that we bring to the party, dinner table or get out of bed with.
The habit I have cultivated over time is to not get out of bed in the morning until I have cultivated enough gratitude in my heart that I am overflowing with happiness and ready to give the best of myself to my day and the people I have the privilege of seeing, serving and caring for.
After all, despite our greatness, we did not create all this by ourselves. We have all been blessed so magnificently. Imagine how challenging life would be without all the luxuries that we are accustomed to on a daily basis. Running water, more than enough food, resources and an infinite imagination and brain power. Our brain is more powerful than the computer systems that send a rocket ship to outer space. We have capacities so untapped and available for our own personal use.
So this week, and hopefully for every day going forward, focus your first moments in the morning on feeling and expressing abundant gratitude for all that you are, and all that you have. Remember, to think is to create.
Let’s get our attitudes well and keep them well!
