Therapies may include various forms of physical medicine such as heat and cold applications, gentle electrical impulses, ultrasound, diathermy, hydrotherapy, exercise therapy, manual traction, spinal alignment and joint mobilization, acupressure and massage therapy.
Physical Medicine at the Center for Natural Healing
When I was in my first year of college at the University of Delaware, I had my first experience with physicians (besides my pediatrician). I went to him because I was having stress, not sleeping well and feeling tired. I remember being shocked after the visit by the doctor’s lack of apparent care about how I felt. I particularly noticed that he didn’t touch me. I was bothered by this, but still didn’t really know very much about physical medicine and rehab, and wasn’t even really aware that physical medicine doctors existed. It just naturally made sense to me that medicine should involve touch. I am told by my patients that they often have similar experiences. It is for that reason that I promised myself that, when I became a doctor, I would sincerely care for my patients and make sure to touch each one. Part of each treatment at the Center for Natural Healing involves a full “body balancing treatment,” or physical medicine and rehabilitation, which includes any combination of the following:
- Lymphatic drainage treatment
- Joint mobilization
- Myofascial release
- Massage therapy
- Trigger point therapy
- Spinal and cranial alignment
My intent as a physician is to assist you in truly HEALING your body with warm, caring nourishment to the physical senses. Please allow us to nurture you when you visit us at the Center for Natural Healing in Honolulu, Hawaii, on the island of Oahu.
