What are your first thoughts when you open your eyes to greet the morning? Are you grateful for the opportunity to spend another joyful day contributing your best self to the world? Are you thankful for the restful hours of sleep that will enable you to spring out of bed with a vigorous zest for living, loving and enjoying each waking moment?
Perhaps yes, or perhaps you’re not quite there yet. If you feel resistance to the idea of embracing life joyfully, you might need to start by letting go of fear and giving yourself permission to embrace health.
Taking these two big steps will lay the foundation for your complete health – mental, emotional, spiritual and physical. If you’ve practiced these two affirmations, then you’ve already experienced how thoughts impact our reality. Our thoughts can be the cause of our dis-ease and distress, or they can be the cause of our healing.
We must begin by taking responsibility for our thoughts. As we become mindful of our unconscious fears, assumptions and attitudes, we can begin to make choices about how we want to think about a given person, situation, memory or relationship.
So let’s start this day by making a choice to be thankful. Let’s start this day with a simple thought, “Yes! I’m grateful to be alive, I’m happy to do my best and I’m accepting that the results are beyond my control.”
