Arthritis is very commonly assigned as a diagnosis to individuals complaining of stiffness and pain in or around the joints of the body. Common causes of this joint pain and inflammation are wear and tear, infections, immobility, toxemia derived from poor food choices, medications, alcohol and other chemical exposure. Women with breast implants often experience inflammation in body tissues which can travel to the joints due to the body’s reaction to the foreign materials in the body. Nightshades are a category of foods including eggplant, tomatoes, potatoes, and peppers which contain solanine, coming from their latin family name, Solanaceae, which in some individuals may exacerbate joint pain and inflammation. From my clinical experience, nightshades tend to affect those with type O blood more commonly, as well as overweight and immobile patients.
